10 Reasons why Heroes of Newerth (HoN) is better than DoTA

Personally, i like HoN (heroes of newerth) better than dota (defence of the ancients). Why? Well, to simply put it, HoN has more character.  And by character, i don’t mean heroes. HoN just tends to grow on you. Here are 10 reasons why I think Heroes of Newerth is better than HoN. I mean, besides the obvious.

1.  No “omg my net dc’ed noooooooo!!” thanks to the Reconnection feature. that is the number one reason why dota is a thing of the past.

2.  QWER hotkeys makes for a better gaming experience. No more “owait, i cant remove my hand from the keyboard since it’d mess up my hand position at the hotkeys. can you scratch my nose for me?”

3. No LAGS!! no more players saying  ”w3w” every time a game is disrupted by players who are lagging.

4. Stunning graphics. (no brainer)

5. Animations are more precise. This includes attack animations. (no more lasthitting woes)

6. Heroes of Newerth is an independent game. Yes my friends, it’s totally independent! Meaning it could have changes in the gameplay in which dota would have to change warcraft to change its gameplay. Dota is just a map, whereas hon is a game.

7. Rankings and PSR‘s (public skill rating) bring out the best in each player since something is at stake.

8. Leaver system, prevents leavers from joining your game. (might be the second best thing)

9. More options for hardcore gamers. Recently, HoN have just added the hardcore version. In contrast to the easy mode, the hardcore mode gives you no gold per sec. and tower denies result in +0 gold gained.

10. It’s simply new. I mean, i even got my uncle to play this. so that must count for something, right?

yeah i know, dota is the original blah blah blah. im not saying dota is a bad game. its just time for a change. those who are afraid of changes are -cowards.

  1. Maybe you could also write something about what people should do in HoN that is different from DotA. For example, a single player/hero can carry a team in DotA even if the other players are bad or just plain retarded; this scenario does not carry over to HoN since the game is the epitome of TEAM-PLAY. No one can own by himself unless the other players are all baddies too and if the game isn’t set in -EM (-easy mode). ^_^

  2. blitzbeat06 says:

players can also singlehandedly carry a team in hon(ive done that). players are a major factor in that sense. example. in garena, players quit so easily cuz there’s little or no consequence. which gives items to a carry and inevitably carries the whole team. in hon, players rarely quit. its not the game, its the players. hon and dota are won with team play. its just the matter of what players do, like farm for half the game and disregard your teammates.

Agree with blitzbeat06, and i’ve done it once (the first and my last of HoN game). Dota, LoL or HoN, all needs a good team coordination and team mates to win. Even if you become an epic powerful carry, you can still be pwned if you walk alone and gankbang-ed by 5 heroes.
Dota has its own positive side by being a warcraft map. If you feel bored playing it, you can just download other maps and play it, while HoN, as an independent game, only has 1 gameplay, which is that dota-based game itself. if you’re bored, you need to install another game.
